ART 2220 Advanced Design - Kerry Gonzales
ASSIGNMENT OUTLINE AND SUMMARY
For the Kit Cover / Pocket folder, we had to design something that would be the first introduction to the company giving you and idea of what the buisness was about but also being able to grab attention. This also would be used to present the letter on the letter head and the business card. A hand out to business relations, clients, or possible business contacts.
While this was a new project from the project before, we were still needing to make soemthing different and new while also maintaining the overall look of the project to ensure that they would look as those they belong together and represented the same company.

HAND COMP
At first when I started to sketch these out, I did some folders or kits that were just standard, a pocket and fold. But after I read and re-read the out line and then cleared it further with the instructor… things started to get crazy… and fun.
I had this idea that came out of nowhere that I just felt like my business kit shouldn’t be something that they would just get and then throw away… I wanted it to leave a lasting impression that would stand out and be different than other businesses. I wanted it to be fun and grab the attention of the audience and customer, while also conveying the message of what my business was all about.
And the message was simple, we are a place for gamers to play games, advanced or simple. Board games, card games, and more. So, a board game and paper cut out just made sense to me and really demonstrated my business, but also my ability as a creative thinker and artist… at least I hope so.
I didn’t have a lot of sketch work to do, I ended up transferring some of my design elements / layout over, then adjusted it some and then added some of the new elements of this design. Which by doing so creates unity but also makes it stand out. Mission accomplished.
COMPUTER COMP
There were no issues with getting my design over to the computer. I was again just a matter of transferring some elements and layouts to the design itself. Then tweaking it some.
I feel that the only challenge was the board game art and getting it transferred to the computer and then getting it to line art that looked good enough to blend it with the overall look and feel of the kit cover. I guess I did have issues with getting the photos to properly colorize as I needed. When I was doing it in photoshop and then transferring it over. It would make the color a different color and then wouldn’t work for the 2-color process. So that took me a sec to figure out.
But again other than that little hiccup it went smoothly and came out looking pretty good I feel.
