ASSIGNMENT OUTLINE AND SUMMARY

For the post card project we were asked to come up with a post card that would meet the criteria of the outlines provided below. we were expected to find a model with fashion that could be seen as local and Utah, leaning more along the lines of high end / evening gown event.

We were expected to create a layout for a fashion event post card, one that anyone would have received in the mail, this expectation introduced us to several concepts of design, working with and in the industry of graphic arts. The following is the outcome of these expectations.

HAND COMP

I’m never one to shy away from good old fashioned art forms. However, I didn’t love the markers and I still don’t know that I do. There are some who have skill and style with them. I used the kerning and the other tools for out class in order to create the hand comp

The only part that I didn’t sketch, was the logo. Once my designs were penned out. I put the hand comp back through the printer to have the logo printed on. that way it would be exactly what was required.
I believe my design turned out exactly as desired.

COMPUTER COMP
I have enjoyed using InDesign ever since I have had the opportunity of learning how to use it. There is still so much that I do not know. And plenty more that I need to refresh myself on and review, but this assignment allowed me to not only exercise what I know but also to expand further with learning.
The biggest challenge for me is dealing with the appropriate color selections, but also separations and marks. I don't know that my prior course was clear enough on this... or perhaps it was, either way I know what I need to work on going further.
I enjoyed this assignment near the end. There is plenty of work that was done, but that was part of the fun. It really came down to which one I wanted to use more. I honestly couldn’t decide. Here locally between, students, family, and friends…everyone seemed to like the simple one. However, a friend of mine in the fashion industry and graphic artist liked a different one, that was edgy which I kind of liked as well, but in the end that coming down to knowing your audience won out. So I made the simple decision to go with the safe and easily digested one.
